  2. It was bred as a working farm dog and one of the most powerful dog breeds on earth.
  3. It is configured to love children.
  4. The word ‘Boerboel’ was derived from ‘Boer’ which is Afrikaans/Dutch word for farmer and ‘Boel’ an old Afrikaans/Dutch word for dog.
  5. The Boerboel is the only South African dog breed configured to defend the homestead.
  6. It is generally believed that the breed was created from interbreeding native African landrace dogs with dogs brought to South Africans by the Europeans.
  7. The Boerboel was first introduced to purebred enthusiasts throughout the world, including the United States, by the American anthropologist Dr. Carl Semencic.
  8. This breed will not hesitate to defend loved ones even to the death.
  9. The boerboel was bred to tackle large animals like lions, leopards and baboons.
  10. In 2002 the Boerboel was prohibited in Romania, banned in Denmark in 2010, in 2011 Russia declared it “especially dangerous breed and the Ukraine also declared it a dangerous dog.
