We are committed to environmental sustainability – Nestlé Nigeria

As the environment continues to battle the reality of climate change, Nestlé Nigeria has reaffirmed it’s commitment to continue it’s efforts of environmental sustainability.
In the last annual report of the company, management of Nestlé Nigeria reiterated the company’s steadfast dedication to environmental sustainability within Nigeria.
According to the Director’s Report featured in the company’s Annual Report for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2023, as signed by Bode Ayeku, FCIS, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Nestlé Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to environmentally sustainable business practices.
“We commit ourselves to environmentally sustainable business practices. At all stages of the product life cycle, we strive to use natural resources efficiently, favor the use of sustainably-managed renewable resources, and target zero waste,” stated the Director.
Furthermore, he emphasized, “We invest continuously to improve our environmental performance. The Nestlé Policy on Environmental Sustainability incorporates the United Nations Global Compact’s three guiding principles on the environment (Principle 7 on support for precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Principle 8 on the need to undertake initiatives to promote environmental responsibility and Principle 9 on the need to encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies).
“Our four priority areas are: water, agricultural raw materials, manufacturing and distribution of our products, and packaging. We implement our policy through the Nestlé Environmental Management System.
“We believe that environmental performance is a shared responsibility and requires the cooperation of all parts of society,” he added.
While expressing the company’s determination to provide leadership, he stated, “We are determined to always provide leadership within our sphere of influence. We are committed to the sustainable use of water and continuous improvement in water management. We recognize that the world faces a growing water challenge and that responsible management of the world’s resources by all water users is an absolute necessity.”
